I so missed out! I honestly feel like, when i consider moving there today, i already missed the glory days. Certainly NY has gone through decades of them, but now it seems different. But really, how the hell would i know.
This article makes NY almost seem oddly cozier than the chains and lesser worries of today:

Ah, Manhattan. I love it... in that "I've never been but I love it on TV" way. But real estate is just crazy high there... like Chicago, but on an island. (What that has to do with it I have no idea, but still.) Note-to-self: get amazingly fabulous high-paying job. More important note-to-self: get my ass to college first.
