Oh I know MT-Blacklist very well. Been running it for 15 months. But a disturbing amount of spam still got through, sometimes as many as 50 at a time, until I started the auto shutdown deal. Will never go back now.
Posted by Mark at June 24, 2005 09:01 PMI had something on WordPress. I think it was a "port" of MT-Blacklist. Then the new version got their own built-in. And I think I have them both on. Stuff gets through, but not much.
I've let my WordPress blog go to shit. I just don't like the design anymore.
I think that'll be a new hobby of mine. Reviving that blog.
Posted by Ryan Zachary Hale at June 24, 2005 10:11 PMMy lord and savior is scode, the security code plugin for MT. It sits in "front" of MT-Blacklist. Together they are an awesome one-two punch.
I had days where I was getting 20,000 spam comment attempts a day...MT-Blacklist was a trooper, killing a huge, huge chunk of them, but it was far from perfect and when "new" spam comment styles hit the wild it might let 3000 through at once.
Scode killed 'em all dead. I barely even see a thing in my log now. The last throttled comment attempt that got through scode to MT-Blacklist was in April. April! Yay!
